a look outside at traffic on the bay bridge. water! that's what bay area residents woke up to today... it was the third storm to hit our area this week... and what a punch it packed! we'll be getting to our storm coverage.. but first but first... three firefighers are in serious but stable condition tonight after they were involved in a weather related accident on highway 24 out in orinda this morning. fire crews were responding to a non-injury accident east of wilder road and were on the shoulder of the highway when another car lost control in the rain and struck the side of the fire engine. the car rolled over and hit three firefighters -- also injuring the driver inside the first car. some of the firefighters had to undergo surgery but no one was killed in this incident. three veteran firefighters -- michael rattary, kelly morris and stephen rogness were transported to john muir hospital in walnut creek. two of the firefighters needed surgery. we have team coverage on the damage and mess left behind after the down pour that battered the entire bay area. but first... lets head ove

. rendering the device after finding it in a car trunk at sot - we got a call of an explosion on christine court destroyed by an explosive device. this is the mailbox police are talking about--- now shredded to pieces. it all started when neighbors heard a huge blast on this normally quiet block >> i knew it was something serious, not just fireworks. it was an explosion because of the shaking and everything, but i told the kids get on the ground and then i called 911. >> the roar of the pipe bomb explosion left residents numb. >> my right ear was towards the window and it deafened it for a while, then after about an hour the ringing started. >> witnesses saw a red s-u-v flee the area after the eruption. police found the vehicle at college park high not too long after. the second bomb was in the trunk, and 3 teens were >> this was a significant pipe bomb, so all the damage you'd expect, the mailbox was completely destroyed and anyone near it would've certainly been injured. >> the corporal says those bombs were so strong, they could've killed someone if they were standing close en

in over the bay area. here's a live look at the bay bridge where an wind advisory was issued because of storm conditions. delayed almost two hours at the sanf rancisco i'm here at the weather center with robin winston... a triple whammy. wow. >> 280, palo alto is getting moderate rain. out of the east bay, also moderate through dublin, 580,/680. san rafael is coming your way on light for the north bay. a few patches in the weather system between the san rafael. we will continue to see rainfall as we go towards it this evening. this is the third system of the week. this is still alive look. this is not the core. it is to the north. this is still however, a live look. widespread. a quick look at rainfall totals it just in the last 24 hours. in the north bay, just under 2 in.. one half inch pan san francisco, traces and dublin. and oakland, also not that much but this system is just as strong as the last one. we will see scattered showers with the high wind advisory in place for the bay bridge. the high wind advisory starting at 10:00 p.m. the heaviest rainfall and corn will be tomorrow
